I came across this video of a behind-the-scenes look into an old HBO intro that used to play in front of feature presentations. As a kid we had HBO, and although this video is from the 80′s, I can still remember seeing this intro on TV.
In design school, we were often reminded of how easy we have it now because of computers and how everything used to have to be constructed by hand. This video is a fascinating example of the level of handcraft that was once required in motion graphics, and how computers, even in 1983, were beginning to have an influence on the creative process.
